The annual GO POETHICK is an elaborate festival of Poetry that is aimed at revitalising and promoting the core of African literature surrounding the essence of our cultural and in traditional being because the wake of poetry is the wake of nature. Not only telling tales of Pain, Joy, Adventure, Struggles but also geared towards bringing the art of poetry to the young people in Nigerian University. The festival began in 2015 at the Obafemi Awolowo University with the sole purpose of encouraging a new generation of Poets who one day might become an international presence.
The event was announced to start on the 27th of July. It was constituted 3years ago with the prospect of instilling the culture and values of writing and appreciating poetry in the younger generation not just seeing it as words running on lines, grouped into stanzas and sometimes has a rhythmic pattern.
This was made known by the Founder and director, Go Poethick: Victor Adewale who confirmed that the featured events would cut-across different works of Art.
The First day would play host to: Schools Visit, and Poetry Master Class at the Faculty of Arts Board Room and the second day comprises: Book Reading with Romeo Oriogun (winner, Brunel University African Poetry Prize, London,) Photography, Poetry Walk; touring Ile-Ife City with street poetry jamz and in heat of the evening; Bonfire Poetry Party would be featuring Chika Jones, Arch Angel, Kemistree, JYC, with DANCE by: Asake Music produced by DJ Tswaggz powered by inside OAU.
